Announcement of Release of 3 Models of Grippers for Collaborative Robots
Acquisition of UR+ Certification for Universal Robots A/S

CKD Corporation (headquartered in Komaki, Aichi and headed by Kazunori Kajimoto, President) will release 3 models of grippers for collaborative robots — “RLSH Series, RHLF Series and RCKL Series” — on February 27, 2020.
CKD’s pneumatic grippers for collaborative robots made by Universal Robots A/S (hereinafter referred to as “UR A/S”) acquired certification for the leading robot manufacturer’s “UNIVERSAL ROBOTS+” (hereinafter referred to as the “UR+”) product platform. This is the first time that a Japanese company has acquired the certification for pneumatic grippers.

1. Background to Development
There is increasing need for automation at manufacturing sites due to a growing manpower shortage. Collaborative robots that can share the workspace with people without any safety fences are attracting attention as equipment capable of automating manufacturing sites of all sizes.
We offer grippers customized solely for UR A/S, a leading manufacturer of collaborative robots, to contribute to the automation and productivity enhancement of manufacturing sites.

2. Major Applications
(1) Feeding and extracting works or parts to and from machine tools (Machine tending)
(2) Parts transfer work (Picking and placing)
(3) Product assembly work

3. Features
(1) Easy and quick mounting on robots
The pneumatic gripper can be mounted on a robot in three steps, i.e., by connecting a dedicated flange, clamp ring, and wiring connector to the robot, in just five minutes. The operation can be set up with the “CKD Pneumatic Gripper” dedicated software that comes with the gripper.
In addition, our gripper adopts a dedicated flange that enables setup changes without using any tools, leading to a reduction in setup time.

(2) Safe and user-friendly design
The body is made of resin for safety purposes and is equipped with an indicator lamp that is visible from all directions so that operators nearby the robot can verify whether the robot is operating or not at a glance.

(3) Available in a product lineup for diverse operating environments and applications
