CKD Corporation (Head Office: Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture; President, Corporate Officer and Chief Executive Officer: Katsuhito Okuoka) is a manufacturer with the largest market share in Japan for blister packaging machines (*1), which are used to package pharmaceuticals such as tablets and capsules, and has garnered strong praise from pharmaceutical companies.
We have developed the HCA-220S, a new type of (Accumulating) machine that meets the various requirement of pharmaceutical blister packaging. Realizing high productivity with a space-saving design, the HCA-220S will be released on 30th of June, 2025

*1 Blister packaging: A form of packaging where tablets and capsules are picked out by pressing the package with a finger.

    1. Background behind product development
Blister packaging are widely used as a general form of packaging for solid dosage forms. Customers require increased productivity for small-lot production, ALAL products, large blister size, and a variety of other packaging formats to meet their needs.
    2. Main applications
Automatic accumulating of blisters of pharmaceutical products such as tablets and capsules.
    3. Product features
      (1) Improved efficiency in high-mix, low volume production
The HCA-220S offers a high production capacity of up to 80 (accumulated blisters)/minute, compared to the maximum conveyor capacity of 40 (accumulatedblisters)/minute of the conventional FCB-220S. Demonstrates high productivity even at high-mix, low volume production sites.

      (2) Expanded scope of supported blister sizes
Supported sheet sizes have been expanded from 136 x 65 mm to 150 x 80 mm. Offers flexible support for a wide range of product specifications.
      (3) Improved visibility, ease of cleaning, and maintenance
Daily cleaning and inspection work is made easy via a special design that minimizes obstructions and unevenness.
      (4) Space-saving design
The overall length of the machine has been reduced by approximately 25% compared to the FCB-220S. This enables installation in areas with limited space, increasing layout flexibility.

    4. Main specifications
Sheet processing capacity: Up to 400 sheets/min.
Collection capacity: Up to 80 (accumulatedblisters)/min.
    5. Sales plan
      FY2028: 370 million yen
    6. Release date
      30th of June, 2025
