Received Excellence Award at the 2026 AICHI Environmental Award.

CKD Corporation (Head Office: Komaki city, Aichi prefecture / Representative Director & President: Katsuhito Okuoka) has received the Excellence Award at the 2026 AICHI Environmental Award hosted by Aichi prefecture for its Eco Scrap® technology, used to produce ClearE-Sheet®, a new environmentally friendly PTP sheet*.

*PTP sheet: An acronym for “Press Through Pack,” a form of packaging for tablets and capsules that can be removed by pushing them through the pack with a finger.

1. Overview of the AICHI Environmental Award

The AICHI Environmental Award was established by Aichi prefecture in conjunction with EXPO 2005 AICHI, JAPAN to promote the formation of a recycling-oriented society by recognizing outstanding environmental technologies and activities, such as resource and energy conservation and recycling, and to widely publicize the high level of environmental technologies and activities of Aichi to the rest of Japan.

2. Award summary

(1) Award received: Excellence Award

(2) Award title: World’s First! Significant Reduction of Plastic-Containing Waste through Production Technology for Pharmaceutical PTP Packaging “ClearE-Sheet®”

(3) Evaluation points: The development of a pharmaceutical packaging technology that significantly reduces waste emissions generated in the PTP sheet manufacturing process was highly evaluated as a significant contribution to the formation of a recycling-oriented society by reducing environmental impact.

3. Eco Scrap® technology

CKD’s proprietary sheet transport and scrap recovery technologies not only reduce plastic usage by more than 7% compared to conventional methods, but also reduce the amount of plastic waste generated in the PTP sheet manufacturing process by more than 70%. This technology can be introduced by modifying existing equipment.

4. ClearE-Sheet®

ClearE-Sheet® is an environmentally friendly next-generation PTP sheet produced using Eco Scrap® technology. ClearE-Sheet® features a design in which a portion of the sheet edge is transparent (clear), visually communicating that the product is designed with a clear, environmentally friendly future in mind.
