The JIS standard defines "valve" as "a general term for a device with a movable mechanism that can open or close a passageway to flow or control a fluid, and the term “valve” is used for a device with a qualifier indicating its use, type, or form.

There are many types of "fluids", and they are not limited to "liquids".
The optimum valve differs depending on the fluid.

[Examples of fluids]
● Water: Functional water, pure water, tap water, industrial water, hot water, etc.
● Gas: Air, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, city gas, propane gas, etc.
● Oil: Lubricant, kerosene, cooking oil, etc.
● Steam: Saturated steam, superheated steam
● Chemical liquids: Sulfuric acid, nitric acid, etc.
